Achieve long-lasting visual freedom—even before cataracts develop

Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE), also known as clear lens exchange, is a vision correction procedure that replaces the eye’s natural lens with an advanced artificial intraocular lens (IOL). This option is ideal for patients over 45 who want to reduce or eliminate their need for reading glasses, bifocals, or progressive lenses—and who may not be ideal candidates for LASIK or PRK.

How RLE Works

Much like cataract surgery, RLE involves removing the natural crystalline lens of the eye and implanting a customized IOL to correct your specific visual needs. This can include:

  • Light Adjustable lenses for both near and distance vision with the ability to customize your vision after surgery to meet your unique visual needs
  • Multifocal or trifocal lenses for both near and distance vision
  • Extended depth of focus lenses for a wider range of clear vision
  • Toric lenses to correct astigmatismC
